The WIA Committee AIANY Chapter is the definitive leadership resource for women in the architecture profession. The Breakfast Leadership Series was introduced in 2008 to provide a forum for women leaders to talk about their professional journey in a casual round table setting.
On February 24th we enjoyed breakfast with our first speaker of the year, Mary Dietz, AIA, NCARB, LEED AP. Mary shared her lifelong principals of “Commitment, Experience, Leadership, and Pathways to Success in Practicing Architecture”
On March 15th Sara Caples, AIA of Caples Jefferson Architects, PC., discussed her professional journey in a round table format and addressed the question “Can a Woman be a Designer?”.
On June 8th we sat down with Susan Chin, FAIA, the 2013-14 AIA vice president elect. Ms. Chin has stated, “The AIA must strengthen its role in preparing architects, especially emerging professionals, to serve as leaders in a wider range of roles. I am deeply committed to this important goal by encouraging leadership and increasing our shared knowledge through improved communication. When AIA members work collaboratively, we solve complex problems, transform public policies, and inspire new approaches to improving the public realm and meeting the aspirations of our citizens.”
